Barbara Brownfield

Barbara Brownfield passed away on Friday September 27th following a very short illness. She was born on October 11th, 1945, in Shelbyville Tennessee. She attended Shelbyville High School where she met the love of her life Jack Brownfield, they were married 52 years before Jacks death in 2015. After living in California for several years they moved to Cleveland TN in 1976. Barbara then earned an associate's degree from Cleveland State Community College. Barbara and Jack founded Specialized Operations Services a company that has seen 3 generations of Brownfields work in it, and of which Barbara was still the owner at the time of her death.

Barbara was a longtime member and Elder of First Christian Church (D.O.C) where she was also very involved in the meals for kids and the homeless shelter meals programs. She enjoyed time with her family, gardening, time with her dog Bailey, traveling, reading, antiques, cooking and her friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by both of her parents G. William Bellenfant, and Virginia Leone Bellenfant; brother, William Larry Bellenfant.

She leaves behind two sons, five grandchildren and one great granddaughter who are devastated by the loss of their wonderful mother and grandmother. Those she left behind includes sons William Jackson Brownfield (Kim) and Jeffrey Todd Brownfield (Laurie); Five grandchildren Kacy Dickson (Cody), Jackson. Carter, Lauren, and Laiken, one great granddaughter Kimber Dickson. She also leaves behind one sister-in-law Susan Stewart (Mike), two brother-in-law Tom Potts and Larry Curlee; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to take the opportunity to thank the wonderful staff at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga for their warmth and kindness while taking care of Barbara.

The family will receive friends Saturday October 5th, 2024, from 1-3 (EST) pm at the Companion Funeral Home. A celebration of Life will be held at the Chapel of Companion Funeral Home following visitation at 3 pm with Pastor Donna Herrik officiating.

A Graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Shelbyville, Tennessee, Sunday at 2 pm with Donna Herrik officiating.

Pallbearers for the graveside service include Jack Brownfield, Jeff Brownfield, Jackson Brownfield, Carter Brownfield, Cody Dickson, Randy Cunningham, and honorary pallbearer Andy Wells.
