Atha Irene Payne Jones Lentz

Atha Irene Payne Jones Lentz, 95, of Cleveland, TN passed away on September 7, 2021. She was born on February 20, 1926 to the late William and Ida Leora Payne. Atha was a devoted follower of Christ and she loved working in her flower garden, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family and a member of Eastern Star for 25 plus years.

In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her husband Earl Jones; son LaVern Frasier Jones; brothers Delmas Payne, Lloyd Payne, and Harless Payne; sister Eva Ledford.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband John Lentz; daughters: Roberta Taylor and Vivian Gurley (Barry); stepchildren: Brenda and Buckey Butkovich, Kay and Dewayne Rickman, Wayne Lentz, W.C. Lentz, and Janice and Marvin Lentz; siblings: Hazel McCann, Charlotte Johnson, and Loretta Pierce; grandchildren: Fred and Sondra Deal, Ed and Lisa Peels, Calvin and Kristie Southerland, Melvin and Ann Prince, Darryl and Tiffany Jones, Jessica and Anthony Mariano. She also leaves behind eleven great grandchildren, fifteen great great grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Atha’s family will receive friends from 3:00pm until 4:00pm on Friday September 10, 2021 at Community Baptist Church in Farner, TN. At 4:00 a procession will leave for the graveside at Farner Presbyterian Cemetery. Jamie Mathis, Darryl Jones, Joshua Stillwell, Cody Chapman, Seth Carter, and Johnny Johnson will serve as pallbearers.
