Obituary
Arthur “Art” Perry Carlyle, 78, of Dayton, Tennessee passed away at his home May 4, 2013 after losing his battle with lung cancer.
Art was born in Wichita, Kansas to Bert and Lenore Carlyle, who preceded him in death. Also preceding Art in death were his brother, Bert Carlyle, and sister, Charlene Easum.
Survivors include his wife, Karolyn; daughters, Cindy; (Jeff) Dumke of Sale Creek, Tennessee and Tammy Carlyle of Dayton, Tennessee and sons, Rusty (Linda) Carlyle, Kim Carlyle and Larry Carlyle all of Dayton, Tennessee; stepmother, Elsa Carlyle of Linn, Kansas; brothers, Tom (Kathryn) Carlyle of Topeka, Kansas and Larry (Jessa) Carlyle of Decatur, Tennessee; sisters, Pat Hackathorn of Spring City, Tennessee and Robbie Criss of Lawrence, Kansaa; his grandchildren, Amanda Carlyle, Rachel Rothwell, Randy Carlyle, Brad (Ashley) Carlyle, Allison (Aaron) Berndt, Haley Carlyle, Sarah Poff, Courtney (Sam) Davis, Dakota Dumke, Kyle Carlyle, Treasure Dumke; Great Grandchildren, Bryce Rothwell, Montana and Bailey Berndt, Isabella and Sawyer Davis, Memphis Gadd, Madeline Carlyle, and Sean and Trent Nielsen. Art is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
Art served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He retired from TVA as a machinist. Art was a member of Amvets of Decatur, Tennessee.
Art enjoyed cooking for many benefits. He was an avid fisherman and a great story teller. Art’s fun loving side showed when he was entertaining family and friends.
The family would like to thank Avalon Hospice for their support and care of Art during his last month of life. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Avalon Hospice of Athens, Tennessee.
A celebration of Art’s life will be held at his home, 178 Montgomery Road Dayton, Tennessee on Friday, May 10th at 5:00pm.
