The group represented the Air Force in various regional competitions and made it to the finals in Miami, Florida. Upon leaving the Air Force, Arthur became a crew member on Merchant Marine ships that sailed the world and when he tired of traveling, he worked as a security officer for the City of New York from where he retired in 1985.
Arthur met and fell in love with Annie Beatrice Heath. That union produced two boys. Later in life he met and married Annie Sue Peppers and together they had one son. Arthur was a good father to his boys, providing guidance with love and firmness.
In the early 1980s Arthur became was student of Transcendental Meditation which took him to India to study with the masters, most notably Swami Muktananda. He had a strong belief in God and became an ordained minister in 2001. The God Arthur believed in crossed many cultures.
Although Arthur spent his early years in New York City, he spent his later years in the south, first in Meridian, Mississippi and lastly in Summerville, Georgia. No matter where he went, Arthur made many loving and lasting friendships. He was a man who gave much of himself and asked for nothing in return. He was kiddingly called the “Mayor of Northwest Georgia” because, no matter where he went in the area he knew somebody and touched their lives.
Whenever you saw Arthur, he always with a book in his hand spreading the word of oneness.
Arthur leaves to mourn him, three sons: Harvey, Phillip and Arthur III; Dee Dee, his loving companion and significant other; five sisters: Dorothy, Sarah, Marie, Margie and Veronica; two grandchildren, Kajhia and Quoyus; a host of nieces, nephews and other family members; and so many friends, if counted, could make a book.
