Obituary
Arthur "Art" Pflug, 86, a longtime resident of McDonald, TN went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, July 13th, 2014 surrounded by his family. Art was born on September 2nd, 1927 in Zelienople, PA a son of the late Wilbert and Amy Pflug. He graduated from Bryan College in 1954. Art served as pastor of West Brown Chapel and assistant Pastor of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church from 1954-1962. During this time he attended Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA and graduated from Columbia in 1960. Art was director of Bachman Children's Home from 1962-1989 and had over 2,000 children that went through Bachman Home and thought of him as their father. After retiring from Bachman he started interim Pastoring, filling in pulpits for different churches until 2013. Art attended First Presbyterian Church where he taught Sunday School.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Rebecca Pflug and one son Timothy Pflug.
Art leaves behind to cherish his memory daughter Rebecca "Becky" Merriman and her husband Richard, son Danny Pflug and his wife Sue, son Jonathan Pflug and his wife Linda and daughter Martha Pflug, grandchildren Jonathan Merriman and his wife Rhonda, April Bentley, Rebecca Seiber and her husband Chris, Jason Pflug, David Pflug, Timothy Pflug, Ann Pflug, Scotty Armstrong and his wife Kara, Jeremiah Armstrong and his wife Cassie, Jacob Armstrong and Molly Clouse and her husband Matt, great grandchildren Jessica Merriman, Rachel Merriman, Danielle Albanna and her husband Khaled, Maggie Bentley, Tucker Bentley, Jonah Seiber, Montana Pflug, Carrie Pflug, Shelly & Hunter Armstrong and Noah & Noel Clouse. Art is also survived by numerous other extended family members, his many Bachman children, church family and a host of special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Wednesday, July 16th, 2014 at 4:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church located at 433 N. Ocoee Street in Cleveland, TN with the Dr. Joseph R. Tanner officiating. Interment will follow in the Lee Cemetery in McDonald, TN with the family serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the 4:00 PM service time.
The family request the in lieu of flowers memorials be made in Art's memory to the charity of your choice.
