Angie Lee Smith Thomas, age 96, of East Ridge, known by her family as "Granny," passed away after a long illness on May 27,2024, at the home of her caregiver in Georgetown, Tennessee. She was born in 1928 on Sand Mountain in Jackson County, Alabama to Henry J Smith and Velma F. Smith. Angie was the seventh of ten children and grew up on a farm during the Depression. She and her husband, Grady, moved to the Chattanooga area shortly after they were married and for many years, Angie worked for American Lava/3M before her retirement.

After exactly 78 years of marriage, Angie is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Grady W. Thomas. They met and loved each other as young children and they eloped to be married the day after Grady graduated from high school.

Angie was predeceased her daughter, Judy Thomas Kerley, her infant son, Gary Thomas, her parents and eight of her nine brothers and sisters. She is also survived by her son and his wife, Wendell and Kathy Thomas; by four grandchildren, Christian Kerley and his family, Natalie Callahan and her family, Matt Thomas and Craige Thomas; by five great-grandchildren; by a brother, Bill Smith, and by several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a funeral service and interment of Angie which will occur at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park in Rossville, Georgia on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity benefiting children and families.
