Alvin Earl Bankston, 80, a resident of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, in a local healthcare facility.
He was the son of the late Clent Bankston; his mother, Hattie Reed Bankston; and his stepmother, Edna Bankston.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Ben Wyatt; his grandson, Joshua Wyatt; brothers, Bob Bankston, Calvin Bankston and Ralph Bankston; his sisters, Polly Hutsell, Gladys Gibson and Dot White.
He was a longtime employee and retired from Magic Chef. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and was a member of North Cleveland Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ponzella Bankston; his son, Jeff Bankston and his wife Jamie; his daughters, Pam Wyatt and Hope Bankston; his grandchildren, Bre Bankston, Marina Bankston, Cassie Wyatt, Dusti George and Suzanne Townsend; his sisters, Betty Kay Richmond and Joy Dixon and several great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 6 from 5 until 7 pm, at the Companion Funeral Home.
A celebration of his life is planned for Monday, January 7, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Funeral Home with Reverend Mack Streun officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
