Allen Jay Brown, 77, a resident of Athens, TN passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 in a local hospital. Allen was born on December 16, 1940 in Ludlo, Vermont a son of the late Earle & Mary Brown. He graduated from Black River High School in Vermont in 1959. After graduation, Allen joined the United States Navy and served 20 years before retiring received an honorable discharge for faithfully serving his country in 1979. After retiring from the Navy, he went on to work for various nuclear power plants across American for the next 18 years before retiring and marrying the love of his life Nancy on February 3, 1997.
Allen leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Nancy Ratliff Brown, five daughters Heather Lussier, Sarah Richardson, Fiona Jacobs, Mary Thompson and Tonya Spears, three sisters Orsina Bartoloni, Margaret Fletcher and Blanch Scala, two brothers Bill Brown and Tom Brown, eleven grandchildren, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
A celebration of Allen’s life is planned for Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home of Athens located at 400 S White Street in Athens, TN. The service will conclude with military honors. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 4:00 PM until the 6:00 PM service time at the funeral home.
