Alice Stafford Hickman, born October 26, 1924, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, just two days before celebrating her 100th birthday. Alice was a gifted artist known for her beautifully rendered watercolors of rural landscapes, capturing the serene beauty of country life with a grace that touched all who viewed her work.
Alice, a loving mother to two daughters, Donna (Wayne) Haun and Karen (Jim) Gilliland, continues her legacy through her cherished family. She was a proud grandmother to Brian (Christina) Haun, Kristen (Norm) Evans, and Beau (Brandi) Gilliland and great-grandmother to Luke and Emma. Alice was the sister of Loren Stafford of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Alice was married for 70 loving years to her husband, William Francis Hickman, who preceded her in death. Their life together was a testament to enduring love and mutual devotion, inspiring those who knew them. Her faith was central to her life, and she was a devoted member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church and then Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church, both in Knoxville, Tennessee. Alice shared her faith and compassion with her church community for decades. More recently, she was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and a Hickory Valley Retirement Community resident.
Alice's gentle presence and artistry will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and beauty, captured in the hearts of her family and friends. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is eternally at peace and reunited with her beloved Francis. She will be dearly remembered for her favorite saying: "How good it is."
