Alfred Stanco

Alfred "Al" Stanco, 68, of Georgetown, TN passed away suddenly and went home to be with Jesus on November 2, 2024. Al was born in Newark, New Jersey on March 30, 1956, to Frank and Irene Stanco. As an adolescent he was an A student, an altar boy, a boy scout, and played on his school's football team. Al graduated high school at Vailsburg High in 1974. "Big Al" had a strong work ethic and was a dedicated police officer, serving Florida for 34 years. During that time, he worked his way up to become a Sergeant and a hostage negotiator. He was also a passionate member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Before retiring, he earned his master's degree in criminal justice administration and graduated summa cum lade from Columbia University. Al was a devoted Catholic who attended mass weekly. He was most proud and honored to become a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He loved serving his community and most recently he was involved in Sleep in Heavenly Peace by building beds for kids in Bradley County. Al made many wonderful friends along the way as he lived in New Jersey, Florida, North Carolina, and his dream home in Tennessee. Al loved cooking his favorite Italian dishes, boating, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Irene, as well as his brother, Michael. Al leaves behind his loving wife, Cheryl, of 31 years; children, James (Sean), Renee (TJ), Cara (Charlie), and Anthony; grandchildren, Joey, Aiden, Ella, Landon, and Lily; sister, Andrea; nephew, David and many cousins. A visitation for friends and family will be Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 4-7pm at Companion Funeral Home, 2415 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. Funeral services will be Friday, November 15, 2024, starting at 10am at St. Therese Catholic Church, 900 Clingan Ridge Drive NW Cleveland, TN 37312. Graveside service interment immediately following at Johnston Cemetery, 639 Sugar Creek Road Georgetown, TN 37336 where Al will be laid peacefully to rest.
