Alan Ruderman, 85, passed away December 16, 2020 at CHI Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 6, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Israel and Rebecca Ruderman. He was also predeceased by a brother, Dr. Robert Ruderman. After graduating from CCNY, he worked as an engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. He then graduated from Brooklyn Law School and worked at the US Patent Office before moving to New York to work for the Singer Corp. In 1977, he moved to Chattanooga and opened a private law office. He then practiced with the law firm of Miller Martin until he retired. He previously served on the Board of the Epilepsy Foundation and the Board of Channel 45 TV. He served as a guide at the Chattanooga Aquarium and a docent at Hunter Art Museum. He was an avid wood carver, Notre Dame football nut and a loyal supporter of the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was a member of the B’nai Zion Synagogue.
He leaves three sons, Greg Ruderman of Herndon, VA, Gary (Mary Lou) Ruderman of Pompano Beach, FL, and Joe (Tammy) Ruderman of Hixson, TN; two stepsons, Leslie (Debi) Forman of Knoxville and Marc (Susan) Forman of Kodak, TN; and six grandchildren. Left to cherish their many memories is his wife, Harriet.
Due to the COVID-19 situation, no home visitation will be held at this time. Private family services will be held.
