Agnes Neeley Chastain

April 2, 1929 — May 28, 2021

Agnes Marie Farmer Neeley Chastain born April 2, 1929 in Cleveland, TN to the
late Elbert Farmer and Jewel Gibson Farmer passed away Friday May 28, 2021 at
Life Care of Cleveland. She was 92 years young.
She was a member of Eastview Baptist Church and was a teacher at Mount
Harmony and Hopewell Schools during the 1950s. She coached Basketball and
Softball with the YMCA and retired from Duracell after 31 years of service. Agnes
taught Sunday School for many years and enjoyed quilting many quilts with her
friends, The Clingan Ridge Quilters. Agnes was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
But above all she was a devoted follower of Christ, a wonderful mother,
grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. In addition to
her parents she is preceded in death by her 1 st husband of 45 years Robert C.
Neeley, 2 nd husband of 10 years Clifford Chastain, step-sons; Ronnie and Dennis
Chastain, brothers, James Farmer, Lincoln Farmer, Lynn Farmer and sister Lucille
Vestal.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters; Bobbie Ballew (Gary),
Dinah Ellis (Steve), Jackie Carver (Rick), grandchildren; Terri Bryant (Kenny),
Mitchell Grady, Angie Hicks (Dustin), Bradley Grady, Karen Lamon (Heith), Eric
Carver (Jessie), Jill Beaty (Parker), 12 great grandchildren, 2 great-great
grandchildren, favorite sister-in-law and best friend, Grace Farmer, step children;
Norma Whaley, Joyce Wagner, Shirley Beard (Charles), Larry Chastain (Charlotte)
as well as several nieces and nephews.
The celebration of Agnes’s life will be held Tuesday June 1 st , 2021 at 6:00 PM at
Eastview Baptist Church, 2083 No Pone Rd. NW, Georgetown, TN 37336, with
Homer Roberts, Dustin Hicks and David Evans officiating. The family will receive
friends 3:00-6:00 prior to the service.
Burial will be held Wednesday morning, June 2, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Eastview
Baptist Church Cemetery with her grandsons and great grandsons; Mitchell Grady,
Bradley Grady, Eric Carver, Tay Bryant, Caleb Lamon and Nathaniel Lamon serving
as pallbearers.
