Agnes Estell Beard

March 23, 1932 — August 29, 2021

Agnes Estell Beard, 89 of Georgetown, went home to be with her loving husband of 63 years, James Edward Beard, on August 29, 2021. The daughter of the late William A. and Julia H. Gamble, she was born on March 23, 1932 in Hamilton County, Tennessee. She attended New Union Baptist Church in Georgetown and was the second oldest of twelve children. She attended Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee and graduated with a teaching degree. When James retired from the Air Force, they settled in Georgetown where thy built a home and family. She taught at Bachman and later Snow ill Elementary teaching 3rd and 5th grade English and Math over a span of 32 years. She also served as the church clerk and Sunday School teacher for New Union Baptist Church. After retiring from teaching, she stayed at home to care for her parents and her mother-in-law. Over the years she would take care of almost everyone in the family in some capacity. She was a loving woman who gave her time to take care of anyone who needed it.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Emma Ruth, Nina, Gail, Marie, and Joan; brothers, Bill Jr., Dewey, James, and her 2 year old grandson, Doc Anthony Walker.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Sue Morgan of Georgetown; granddaughters, Hannah Morgan of Georgetown, and Heather ( Bradley) Walker of Cleveland; brothers, Ray(Pat) Gamble of Georgetown, Bob(Katherine) Gamble of Cleveland, and John(Sarah) Gamble of Georgetown; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, church family and friends.
A Celebration of Life and Home going for Agnes Estell Beard will be held at 3p.m. Sunday, September 5, 2021 at New Union Baptist Church located at 11516 Meadowview Road in Georgetown 37336. She will be laid to rest in McDonald East View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1p.m. until the funeral hour at the church on Sunday.
