Abern Cross, 73, of Cleveland, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 24, 2020 at his home. He was a resident of the area for nearly 60 years coming from Tellico Plains. He was a member of Cohulla Baptist Church. Abern was a funny man who loved to fish. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and his cat, Smokey. He had a big heart and never met a stranger. He was a simple man who loved his sweets and his coffee. Abern was a loving Daddy and Papaw.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, JoAnn Cross; parents, Robert and Dessie Odell Cross, Sr.; brothers, Robert Cross, Jr., Raymond Cross, and Carl Cross; sisters, Deloris Melton, and Eveline Myers; brothers-in-law, Mike McKinley, and Archie Fry.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters, Gina (Robby) Vaughn, Kerry (Larry) Csehil, and Christina (Rodney) Pierce; siblings, Laverne McKinley, Sandra (Gary) Smith, Bea (Lee) Carver, William Cross, and Faye Cross; grandchildren, Jordan Pierce, Brian Pierce, Matthew Lynn, Brittany Lynn, Kaitlyn Csehil, and Daniel; brother-in-law, Richard Fry; and numerous nieces and nephew.
The family will receive friends from 5:00PM until 9:00PM on Friday, August 28, 2020 in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2415 Georgetown Road NW in Cleveland. Additional visitation will be held at Companion from 10:00AM until 11:00AM on Saturday, August 29, 2020. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00AM with the Reverends Hunter McLain and Steve Huff officiating. A committal service will follow in the Flint Springs Cemetery.
