Wilma Katherine Hawkins

Wilma Katherine Hawkins, 88, of Cleveland passed away August 13, 2019. She was born in Benton, TN to the late Bertie Viola Bates and Flavis Bates. Wilma loved going to church, reading her Bible, sewing, cooking for her family and flower gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and rocking the grand babies. She was Baptist by faith and a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Henry Burton Hawkins; brothers and sisters, Chatta Long, Sudie Gilliland, Amos Bates, Donnie Calhoun, Spence Bates, Nell Smith, JP Bates. Junior (F.E.) Bates, and Lynn Bates.

Survivors include her Children, Melanie McClure, Melissa Hicks (Danny), and Myron Hawkins (Donna); grandchildren, Alisha Hicks, Audrey Trentham, Ashley Beck, Matthew Hawkins, and Katherine Peacock; and 11 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 6pm to 8pm at Union Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 7pm on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at the church with Pastor Jack Epperson and Rev. Larry Humbard officiating. Burial will follow in Union Missonary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family has requested the following as pallbearers: Matthew Hawkins, Joshua Peacock, Clay Beck, Austin McClure, Lynn Beck, and Rodney Trentham.
