Willie Ann Smithson

Willie Ann Smithson, 92, of Cleveland, TN passed away on December 14, 2015. She was born on June 15, 1923 to the late Robert H. and Meeky J. Hodge Cantrell. Willie had a love for music and loved singing in the church choir and gardening. She wasn’t famous or glamorous; her name wasn’t in lights, but she was “Mother”. To us she was the best mother, the only we would ever want. Her meals were worth waiting for. She taught us to love music, gardening, and to appreciate the simple things, the most important things. Her home was always open to her family and friends. Mom exhibited the behavior that was a testament to her belief in God, her loving and caring spirit, generosity, and willingness to help others. In all the world there’s no other that could take the place of our dear Mother.

In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Calvin Smithson; brothers, Harold Cantrell and James Arville Cantrell; sister, Jessie Mae Ingram.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Jonnie Christian (Anson); son, Terry Smithson (Beth), brother, LaVaughn Cantrell; grandchildren, Heather Jane Haas (Nathan), Anson Wales Christian Jr. (Karyn), Tara Beth Smithson, Holly Jane Wagley (Matt); great-grandchildren, Ashley, Allison and Addison Christian, Garrett, Connor, Nicole and Evan Haas, Lola Rose and John Mitchell Wagley.

A Celebration of life will be held at Companion Funeral Home Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 11:00am until 1:00 pm. Memorial Service will begin at 1:00pm.
