Willa Fogg Childrey

Willa Fogg Childrey, 94, of Cleveland, TN passed away on May 12, 2017. She was born on December 29, 1922 to the late William Guy Fogg and Zelma Pearl Harrison Fogg. She has been a resident of Cleveland for more than sixty years. All who knew her were well aware she loved to quilt and travel, often traveling all over the United States with numerous tour groups. She even made it to England and Paris through her travels. Willa devoted her life to caring for children. Willa was a proud member of the "Crazy 8's". She was affectionately known as "Mrs. Willa" to hundreds of families throughout her years of service at First Baptist Church. Willa was a pillar in the children’s ministry and nursery at First Baptist. She took tremendous pride in caring for children and made it her life's work. In addition to her service in the children’s ministry, Willa worked with The Chesnut Tree and Brenda's Little Folks Shoppe, two children's clothing stores. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with children, whether it was her own children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren or those she cared for in the children's ministry as her own.
In addition to her mother and father, Willa is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Wendell H. Childrey; daughter Pamela Joy Childrey; sister Ozella Fogg; brothers: William Fogg, John B. Fogg, Dumont Fogg, Roy "Pete" Fogg, Perry "Charlie" Fogg, Guy "Sonny" Fogg, and Bobby Fogg.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Debra Childrey Hamilton (William M. Hamilton Sr.); son, Timothy Keith Childrey Sr. (Janet); grandchildren: William M. Hamilton Jr. (Kelly), Brad R. Hamilton (Shannon), Wendy Martin (Jason), T. Keith Childrey Jr. (Nicole), Brooke Erreger (Tyler), and Kirstin Bradshaw; great grandchildren: Reese Hamilton, William M. Hamilton "Trey", Drew M. Hamilton, Ramsey Hamilton, Hamilton Martin, Maddux Martin, Calla Childrey; great grandson soon arriving: Cooper Erreger; and sister-in-law, Jean Childrey. In addition to these she leaves behind nieces, nephews, and extended family members and many friends.

A celebration of Willa's life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday May 20, 2017 at First Baptist Church Cleveland located at 1275 Stuart Road, Cleveland, TN 37312. The family will recieve friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with her grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.
