Walter James Cannon

Walter James Cannon, 67, of Apison, Tennessee passed away March 3, 2023 at Erlanger East Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was born on March 22, 1955 in El Paso, Texas to James and Maria (Korgel) Cannon.

Walter was a very loving, caring and thoughtful father, grandfather, spouse, brother and friend. He was always volunteering and helping others. He worked at McKee Foods Corporation, where he retired after 48 years. He was a long-term Deacon at Seventh Day Adventist Church on McDonald Road. He enjoyed walking, camping, fishing, and spending time with family, friends, and his beloved dog, Bentley.

Walter is survived by his wife Cynthia Cannon for 36 years. His son Jonathan Smith of Ooltewah, TN. His daughters Stephanie (Joel) Scott of Ooltewah, TN and Rose Cannon (Daughter-in-law) of Ooltewah, TN. His sisters Lela (Richard) Petty, Sue (Charles) Stanfield, Sandy (Jeff) Cardwell, Caroline (Todd) Hanna. Along with his brothers, Micheal Cannon and Johnny Cannon. His grandchildren Noah and Reagan Cannon of Ooltewah, TN and numerous nieces and nephews. His beloved dog/kid Bentley Cannon.

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Maria Cannon. His son James L. Cannon of Harrison, TN. His sisters Marilyn Cannon of Soddy Daisy, TN and Rebecca Cannon of Cleveland, TN.

There will be a Memorial for Walter James Cannon to be held at McDonald Road Seventh Day Adventist Church in McDonald, Tennessee on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 3-5 p.m., service starts at 4 pm.  The final arrangements are by Companion Funeral and Cremation Service, Cleveland Chapel.
