Obituary

Walter Calvin Carter, 71, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday October 14, 2015 in a local hospital. He moved here from Atlanta, but has been a resident in Cleveland for the past 38 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a loving husband, who never met a stranger and enjoyed life. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten and will always remain in our heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Leona Loudermilk Carter; sister Sadie Parrott; and brother John Carter, Hoyt Carter, Paul Carter, Alvin Carter, and James Pete Carter.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Selma Driggers Carter of Cleveland; daughters Kym Snider (Joel), Jackie Truelove (Walter), grandchildren: Whitney and Justin Evans, Drew Whitaker, Matt and Donia Snider, Nadia and Scott Gutherie, Ezekiel Snider, Brandon and Savannah Harris, Michael and Brooke Truelove, Timothy Truelove, Christopher Truelove (Nikki Hughes), and Amy Truelove; great grandchildren: Colton Evans, Ambree Evans, Levi Evans, Tara Sweet, Gavin Snider, Aymee Harris, Annabelle Harris, Hayden Cordell, Branson Cordell, Malachi Thomas, Darrell Gutherie, Kelsey Gutherie, Kayly Gutherie, Eli Gutherie, Tucker Truelove, Waylon Truelove, Allie Truelove, and Aubree Truelove; sister Velda Collier (Johnny) of Atlanta, GA; brothers Ralph Carter (Johnnie Sue), Ronnie Carter (Dorothy), and Layne Carter (Brenda) all of Cleveland. Several nieces and nephews and one special nephew and son Steven Herman Carter; and his special dog Heidi.
A funeral service will be held on Monday October 19, 2015 at 3:00pm at Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown RD NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. Interment will follow the service in Bethlehem Cemetery in Isabella, TN. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday October 18, 2015 at the funeral home.
