Velma Moorhouse Massengill

October 27, 1932 — March 21, 2020

Velma Moorhouse Massengill, 87, a resident of Benton, TN departed to her heavenly home March 21, 2020. She loved her Lord and was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Ocoee, TN. Serving alongside her husband, she was a prominent citizen of the community and retired local business owner. The greatest joy was raising her sons with her beloved husband of 61 years. Her joy continued with the birth of each of her 6 grandchildren and 5 great granddaughters. She was preceded in heaven by her parents Walter and Julia Moorhouse, husband Richard McKinley “Dick” Massengill, Jr. of 61 years: sisters: Stella Hall, Elizabeth Crumley, Iola Brock, and Pearl McCallum and brothers, Richard T. “Hot Shot” Moorhouse, Jack Moorhouse, Walter M. Moorhouse, John Henry Moorhouse, Boyd Moorhouse, and Charles Elmer Moorhouse.
She is survived by one brother William Earl Moorhouse: sons: Barry Massengill and wife Pam of Cleveland, TN and Brian Massengill of Benton, TN; grandchildren: Lynn Massengill (Autumn), Laura Moore (Chad), Mac Massengill, Billy Massengill (Peyton); Hunter Massengill and Emily Massengill; great grandchildren: Lynleigh Massengill, McKinley Massengill, Emma Moore, Halle Massengill, and Oliva Massengill; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends survive.
A private service will be held for the family. It will be streamed on Companion Funeral Home’s Facebook Page and website on Wednesday March 25, 2020 at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Shiloh Baptist Church located at 358 US 64 Hwy Ocoee, TN 37361.
