Troy Lee Shirk

Troy Lee Shirk,74, of Athens, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. Troy was born on October 21, 1947, to the late Clayton Kelso and Helen Faye Shirk in Monroe County.

Along with his parents Troy was preceded in death by his brothers, K.T. Shirk, and Tony Shirk; and his sister, Jeretta Shirk Moses.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years, Patsy Henderson Shirk; his sons, Stacy Lee Shirk, and Marcus Nathan Shirk, both of Athens, TN; granddaughter, Ashlee Elizabeth Shirk (Dayton) Shahan; sisters, Barbara (Amos) Martin, and Johnnie Belle Middleton; brothers, Ross (Barbara) Shirk of Niota, and Jerry (Connie) Shirk of Englewood; brother In law, Reed Moses; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Troy always loved hunting, fishing, and car racing. He always was ready to lend a helping hand for neighbors and friends. Troy was a hard-working man who provided well for his family. Troy was in the construction industry, he also worked at Mayfield Dairy for 13, and Worked at M and H Car Parts for 30 years, before owning and operating The Grass Cutter Lawn Service.

He was a good father, and especially adored his only granddaughter, Ashlee. He gave Ashlee the name “Baby Doll’ When she was a baby, and she was always his “Baby Doll.” Troy always enjoyed the simple things in life, and never wanted to be away from home, but now he has moved to his new home.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022, at Companion Funeral Home of Athens at 6:00 pm with Reverend Floyd Duncan officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm prior to the service.

A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Athens, Tennessee at 4:00pm. With Tony Shirk, Michael Shirk, Clayton Shirk, Tony Shirk Jr., Tracy Bohanon, And Dayton Shahan serving as pallbearers.
