Obituary

Thomas L. Davis “Tommy,” 58, of Cleveland, TN passed away on Sunday October 5, 2014. He was born on November 25, 1955 to the late George Thomas and Iva Dean Davis. Tommy was a lifelong resident of this area. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was an avid Tennessee football fan and aquarium enthusiast. Those who knew Tommy were always kept laughing with his overwhelmingly rich sense of humor-he was never short of a joke to tell. He loved First Baptist Church and invested a number of years at Camp Cherokee, serving as a men’s counselor. He enjoyed lawn care and was a very hardworking individual. Above all of the things Tommy will be known for, he will always be remembered as a very loving and compassionate individual with a tender heart. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his mother and father, he is preceded in death by two daughters: Ansley Davis and Jordin Davis; one brother Charles Martin Davis; one sister: Valerie Gaye Smith.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory two daughters: Arhmin Thompson (Steven) and Chelsey Davis (fiancé Michael Hicks); wife of thirty-three years Susie Davis; sister: Mitzi Johnson; brother: Yuri Davis (Amy); two grandchildren: Emory and Truett Thompson. In addition to these, he leaves behind several other extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be on Wednesday October 8, 2014 at 5:00pm at First Baptist Church located at 1275 Stuart Road, Cleveland, TN 37312 with Rev. Tom Wickes, Rev. Carl Caffrey and Donnie Yates officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the church. Interment will be private family at Moore’s Chapel Cemetery.
