Sylvia Blanche Lakins

Sylvia Blanche Lakins, 78, a longtime resident of Cleveland, TN passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 in a Chattanooga hospital. Blanche was born on June 20, 1939 in Corner Brooke Newfoundland Canada a daughter of the late James & Mary Pelley. She has made the Cleveland area her home since 1954. Blanche was of the Christian faith. Blanche worked at Bowater prior to leaving and assisting her husband Lawrence in the operation of their business Lakins Jewelers for many years. Lastly she has assisted Jones Management in their accounting department. Blanche will always be remembered for being a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend to many.

Blanche is preceded in death by her son Lawrence Lakins Jr. “Larry”, parents James & Mary Pelley, one sister Ann Pelley Leonard and two brother Jim Pelley and Walter Pelley.

Blanche leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of fifty six years, Lawrence Lakins Sr., one daughter Tami Lakins, two sisters Marie Caravan and Margie Pelley, three brothers Dick Pelley (Sylvia), Max Pelley (Wanda) and Gary Pelley (Bev), numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

A celebration of her life is planned for Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of Mt. Olive Ministries located at 3522 Harrison Pike in Cleveland, TN.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until the 3:00 PM service time.

The interment will follow in the Calhoun City Cemetery in Calhoun, TN with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association in Blanche’s memory.
