Susan Lynn Blair McDowell 53, of Athens passed away on Tuesday morning November 10 at her home after a brief battle with lung cancer.

Susan was born in Montgomery Alabama on May 4th 1962 to the late Seab William Blair and Linda Hunt Blair. She moved to Athens at 8 years old, and made her home in Athens with her family. She worked for many years for Jackie Baker at Wholesale Auto before retiring. She was an avid Tennessee Volunteers fan, lover of music, and a tender sweet soul with a smile that could light up a room.

She was preceded in death by a niece Brandi Nicole Blair, and a nephew Ronnie McDowell.

She leaves behind a loving husband Robert E. McDowell, son Aaron McDowell, granddaughter Mackenzie McDowell, grandson Logan McDowell, and her beloved dog Wimpee. Brothers Bill and Jeannie Blair, and Artie Blair. Sisters Deborah Blair, Darlene and Gary Garrett, Donna Belincky, Marvelene and Randy Fagg, Margaret and Bradley Snyder. Mother in law Martha Rose McDowell. Brother in law Stanley and Jennie McDowell. Sister in law Nancy and Mike Hague. Several nieces and nephews, as well as grandnieces and nephews.

There will be no formal visitation. There will be a memorial service on Saturday November 14th, at 2:30 pm at the Athens Free Saints True Holiness Church in Athens Tennessee, with the Reverend Bill Hicks, and the Reverend Perry Duncan officiating. Burial to follow in the church's memorial gardens.

Flowers may be sent directly to the church, or in lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up at Capital Bank on Decatur Pike in Athens in the name of "Donna E. Belincky Special Account for Susan Blair McDowell" to help offset the costs of her final expenses.
