Susan Ann "Sue" Martin

Susan Ann “Sue” Martin, 85, a longtime resident of McMinn County passed away on Thursday morning, March 9, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Salem, Oregon on March 31, 1937 a daughter of the late Richard & Frances Sawyer. She was an honorable discharged veteran of the United States Air Force after faithfully serving her country. Then she went on to work in law enforcement for 40 years, retired from the McMinn County Sheriffs office. Sue was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed antiquing, yard sales, knitting and crocheting, but most of all spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her infant daughter Leanna Sue Martin, and one brother George “Quinn” Sawyer.

Sue leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter Polly Harris and her husband Dennis, one son Dana Martin and his wife Janelle, four grandchildren Amanda Lipscomb (Doug), Daniel Martin (Jennifer), Ryan Martin (Natalie) and Katie Smithers (Lukas), seven great grandchildren Serenity, Cambria, Hadrian, Donovan, Henry, Annie and Mason, father of her children and special friend Hoyt Martin, numerous other extended family members, previous co-workers and a host of special friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday March 11, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Dixon Avenue Baptist Church located at 411 Dixon Avenue Englewood, TN 37329. Sheriff Joe Guy will closes the visitation time at 5:00 PM with a memorial service celebrating Sue’s life.
