Sue Mcclanahan Denton

January 22, 1936 — March 4, 2020

Sue McClanahan Denton, 84, passed away on March 4, 2020, at the Hospice of Chattanooga Care Center. She was a daughter of the late Harry and Velma McClanahan. She was retired from Cleveland Clinic for Women. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church for nearly 75 years where she also served as a Sunday School teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben C. Denton, Jr.; sister, Barbara McClanahan; and brother, Billy R. McClanahan.

She is survived by her daughter, Mitzi Denton (Dwayne) Foster; brother, Don (Dawana); granddaughters, Lindsay (Scott) Dunn of Cleveland, Holly (William) Brown of Knoxville and Jennifer (Jeremy) Taylor of Albuquerque, NM; 5 great-grandchildren, Rigsby, Tacori and Knox Taylor of Albuquerque and Camolyra and Marshall Brown of Knoxville; special friend, Pam Hawkins; several special nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 11:00AM until 2:00PM on Monday, March 9, 2020, at Hopewell Baptist Church located at 188 Old Georgetown Road in Cleveland. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00PM with Pastor Travis Rodgers officiating. A graveside service will follow in the church cemetery with Wade McClanahan, Billy McClanahan, William Brown, David Allen, Jeff Davis and Billy Thompson serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to the Hospice of Chattanooga.
