Steven Charles Davis

Steven Charles Davis, 72 of Cleveland, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 20, 2020. He was a lifelong resident of the area. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War and on the USS Okinawa. He served as the pastor of New Fellowship Baptist Church in Charleston for 36 years. He loved preaching and singing and dedicated his life to ministry. He enjoyed going to Bradley Healthcare with his dog, Sadie, and visiting with the residents and their families in his free time. He also enjoyed drag racing. Above all else, he loved the Lord with all his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Marie Barndollar Davis; brother, Ray (Duchess) Davis; sister-in-law, Helen Davis; brother-in-law, Vaughn Davis; nephew, Marty Davis; great-grandbaby, Tucker Ridge Davis; grandparents, Creed (Lily) Bain; and parents-in-law, Elmer (Beatrice) Brackett.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Shelia Davis; son, Steven Duanne “Buddy” (Tiffany) Davis; siblings, Bobbie (Jonnie) Davis, Larry (Brenda) Davis, Leonard Davis, Betty Howard, Kaye (Cliff) Williams; grandchildren, Steven Michael “Punkin” (Jeni) Davis, Brad Goodwin, and Brittani Allen; great-grandchildren, Coraline (James) Davis, Karson, Emma, and McKenzy Robins, Madie and Carson Palmer; special friend Dawn Palmer; and several preacher friends.

The family will receive friends from 3:00PM until 8:00PM on Monday, August 24, 2020 at Dalton Pike Baptist Church located at 2965 Dalton Pike SE in Cleveland. Additional visitation will be held at the church from 10:00AM until 2:00PM on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 2:00PM with Reverends Jerry Alexander, Russ Coffey, and Charles Hollifield officiating. A graveside service will follow in the Cohulla Baptist Church Cemetery.
