Stephen Paul Goodale

Stephen Paul Goodale, age 70, of Cleveland, TN, known affectionately by his family & friends as Bear or Big Daddy, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Chattanooga Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. Born on May 5, 1947, in Darlington, SC, he was the son of the late Paul Hampton Goodale & Aline Shaw Goodale.

He was a 1965 graduate of Camden High School. He began playing drums at the age of 10 & played professionally in various bands throughout the Carolinas, from the 1960s through the early 2000s. He was also a certified crane operator. Steve was loved and remembered fondly by all who knew him. He had a love for life that was infectious, and he always kept people laughing and on their toes.

He is survived by his mother, Aline Shaw Goodale & stepfather, Carlton Stephens, of Bishopville, SC; his partner, Sheila Townsend, of Cleveland, TN; a daughter, Paula Goodale Atkinson of Resaca, GA; a son, Joshua Goodale & wife, Ashleigh, of Bishopville, SC; three granddaughters, Shelby Atkinson Beacham of Albany, GA, and Jordyn & Rhyan Goodale of Bishopville, SC; and one grandson, Keenan Atkinson of Calhoun, GA. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Hampton Goodale.

A private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
