Sonja Luckie

Sonja Luckie, 80, a beloved wife, mother, and sister, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023, in Cleveland, TN. Born on November 28, 1942, in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Motee and Carrie Thurston. She is also preceded in death by her two children Richard Luckie and Linda Luckie. She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Richard Luckie, and her four brothers, Curtis Thurston, Motee Thurston, Anthony Thurston, and George Thurston.

Sonja was a brilliant woman who worked hard throughout her entire life, dedicating her time and energy to her family and her community. As a testament to her strong spiritual foundation, she lived a good Christian life and served as an inspiration to those around her.

In addition to her dedication to her family and faith, Sonja had a passion for card games, particularly bridge. She loved the camaraderie, competition, and strategic thinking involved in the game. Her love and skill for the game were well-known within her circle of friends and family, and she will be remembered for her warm presence, laughter, and spirited conversation during countless evenings spent around the card table.

As we mourn the loss of this remarkable woman, we also celebrate her incredible life and the love, joy, and wisdom she shared with all who had the privilege of knowing her. Sonja's legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of her husband, Richard, and the many friends and extended family members who were blessed by her presence in their lives.

The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, May 9th, 2023, from 12:00PM to 2:00PM with the service to follow at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN. The interment will take place following the service at Lee Cemetery with Pastor Darvel Lovelady officiating.
