Sean Robert Skelly

Sean Robert Skelly, 61, passed away on February 27, 2022, at his home in Cleveland, TN. He was born August 31, 1960 in Chattanooga TN and was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Edward Skelly and Carole Steward Skelly; his sister, Carole Cathleen Skelly; brothers, Michael Patrick Skelly and John Joseph Skelly; and nephew, Marshal Allan Lutes II.
He is survived by his brothers, Colonel (Retired) Lawrence (Martha) Skelly II, Paul Skelly and Keivin (Melody) Skelly, sisters; Patricia Lutes, Denise (Terry) Wilson, Theresa (David) Kazanowski, Joanie Robinson, and Mary (John) Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

After graduation from Brainerd High School, where he participated in baseball and boxing, he joined the US Marine Corps and served our country for over 20 years. Gunnery Sergeant Skelly was the recipient of multiple ribbons, awards and many other service accomplishments. He was an avid runner and enjoyed training, completing many top finishes in national marathons over his career. He was a very proud Marine who loved his country and served it with great pride.

Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 12 at 11:00 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with Father Mike Nolan officiating, 501 S. Moore Road, Chattanooga, TN 37412.
Interment will follow after service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1 Mount Olivet Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37412

A celebration of Sean’s life will be held Saturday, March 12 at 1:00 in the Parish Life Center at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
