Sandra Jean Cannon

May 17, 1943 — February 29, 2016

Sandra Jean Cannon, 72, was called to her Heavenly home on Tuesday evening February 29th surrounded by her family and close friends. She was born on May 17, 1943 in Mississippi to Joseph and Mary Nell Ford.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” ~ John 3:16 Jean Cannon believed! She not only believed, but shared this beloved verse with everyone who was blessed to be in her presence. She is now experiencing the everlasting life that she all too often dreamt about and shared with others.
Jean was a true servant of God. She faithfully served her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and relative. She loved her North Cleveland Baptist Church where she was a member for 60 years. Her life was spent serving the Lord. She led a countless number of children, including her own sons and grandsons to Christ through her 30 plus years as a second grade Sunday school teacher. She was known for making the Bible come to life through her creative “story telling”. From her Mr. Elephant treat puppet to the scripture memorization games, younger children could not wait to be a part of Mrs. Jean and Mr. Joe’s Bible Study hour. She was a caring teacher who gave Godly instruction and correction. Jean also served as secretary on staff at North Cleveland Baptist for 16 years.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Joe Cannon, of Cleveland; two sons, Ernie (Bambi) Cannon and Wade (Brittany) Cannon both of Cleveland; and five grandchildren: Duggan, Taylor, Carson, Abbi Reese and Greyson Cannon. Other survivors include: brother, Jerry (Carolyn) Ford of Inman, South Carolina; sister, Judy (Toad) Frazier of Wheelersburg, Ohio; sister, Ginger Dahlin of Jacksonville, Florida; stepmother, Orena Ford of Cleveland; stepsisters: Sherry (Gene) North of Morristown, Tennessee; Kim (Danny) Ledford of Cleveland; Debbie (Tom) Mainor of Dayton, Tennessee; Linda (Glen) McConnell of Mint Hill, North Carolina; and many loving nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Nell Ford.
She has run the race and finished her course. Jean has left a fine example of how to live by her words and actions. She has now come to the time for which she lived. This is not the end, but the beginning. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service starting at 7:00 on Wednesday,
March 2, 2016 at North Cleveland Baptist Church, 2815 North Ocoee Street, Cleveland, TN 37312 with Dr. Jay McCluskey officiating.
Pallbearers include: Colby Houston, Jeff Elliott, Charlie Hysinger, Larry Sharo, Ron Spangler, and Ralph Earby.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jean’s memory to North Cleveland Baptist Church, Grace to the Finish, Building Fund, 2815 North Ocoee Street, Cleveland, TN 37312.
You are invited to share a personal memory of Jean or your condolences with her family at her online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral and Cremation Service and the Cody family are honored to assist the Cannon family with these arrangements.
