Ruby Carol Elrod

Ruby Carol Elrod, 87, left this world peacefully in her sleep on July 6, 2018. She was a jack of all trades, holding many jobs in her lifetime. She worked as an air-brush artist, CNA, master seamstress, and cashier. She even worked at a convenient store up until the last 11 months of her life, simply for entertainment because she loved to socialize. She was a natural comedian whom was also brutality honest. She continued to live independently by herself because she was too stubborn to give up her independence, even up until her last days, she refused to be told what to do. As Elvis said, he did it his way, and so did our mom.
Ruby Carol lived almost all of her life in Ooltewah, TN, but spent some of it in Florida as well. She was a huge fan of the beach. She spent the last 20 years in Cleveland, TN. She lived a good, long, healthy, and blessed life. She will be missed dearly, but many are thankful she didn’t live a life of illnesses and pain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Jimmie Elrod and brother, Billy J. Elrod.
She is survived by her two daughters, Debbie (late Boa) Payne, and Regina (Charles) Willerson; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren, and of course, her beloved pets.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on July 28, 2018 at Ooltewah Cemetery. There will be no visitation services per her request.
