Roberta "Bobbie" Phelps (Moore)

Roberta “Bobbie” Phelps (Moore), age 75, Collegedale, TN passed away December 15th 2021 with her family by her side.
Bobbie was born May 26th, 1946 in Fordingbridge, England to Robert Douglas Phelps and Gertrude Christina Phelps (Foyle) (Bickler). She grew up in Ringwood in the South Hampton County, England with her older brother Chester Elliot Phelps. Bobbie immigrated to the United States with her family in 1958 to Santa Clara, California. It was here her younger brother, Randall Hugh Bickler joined the family. She married Richard “Rick” Jack Moore in 1965 and together they had 2 daughters, Natalie Ann and Linda Marie. Bobbie lived in California up until her retirement. She worked as a civil servant for the US Dept. of Defense at Pt. Mugu naval base where she broke through several gender barriers throughout her successful career and pioneered as one of the first female data and program management specialists on several high-profile projects, including the Harpoon Missile, and the Stand-Off Land Attack Missile (SLAM).

Bobbie was a woman of many talents, vast interest, and a collector of experiences from travels around the world. A prolific artist working with several mediums including, but not limited to painting, pottery, culinary arts, knitting, photography, and writing. She entertained many with her gifted storytelling and her unexpected sarcasm and sharp wit.

Bobbie is survived by the following family members, many of whom lovingly refer to her as Goggie: Daughter, Natalie Brewer (Josh); Granddaughters: Amanda Brewer-Fowler, Megan Brewer-Grier, Taylor Shirley, Tyler Brewer; Great Grandchildren: Jett Fowler, Remy Fowler, Bralyn Shirley-Doremus, Spencer Grier, and Olive Grier; Step-father, Merwyn “Bick” Bickler; Brother, Randall “Randy” Bickler; Nephew, Jesse Phelps; and Niece, Quincy Bickler.
Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda Moore-Shirley; grandson, Richard Adam Shirley; brother, Chester “Chet” Phelps; nephew, Noah “Zac” Bickler; and her beloved Beagles, Cleo, Bailey, and Shandy.

Memorial service to be held January 29, 2022, 3:00 pm EST, Trinity United Methodist Church, 731 1st Street NE, Cleveland, TN 37312. Livestreaming provided by Companion Funeral Home. Celebration of Life to be held in Ventura, CA at a later date.
