Robert Dennis Palmer

Robert Dennis Palmer, age 63, of Riceville, TN departed this life on Saturday, March 25, 2017. Robert was born on September 17, 1953 in Athens, TN. Robert lived the majority of his life in Anza, CA where he owned H&R Transport, as well as worked as a rancher. Robert was also an over the road truck driver and visited 47 of the contiguous United States. Robert’s passion was horseback riding in the deserts and mountains of California, where he had over 3,000 miles under his saddle. He was an old Cowboy with sharp edges and a soft heart.
Robert is the first-born son of Martha Dean Palmer and the late Robert Hugh Palmer of Riceville, TN. Robert leaves behind his life partner of 36 years, Leslie Firth, who cared for him throughout his illness. He was the loving father of four sons- Gary Firth, Tommy Firth, and Dennis Firth of Anza, CA and Scott Firth of Englewood, TN- and one step-daughter, Tracey Wright of Murietta, CA. He was blessed to be the grandfather of three grandchildren – Thomas Gonzales, Harper Wright, and Leah Firth. Robert is survived by his two brothers, Bill and Gary Palmer; sister, Tracey Montgomery; nephew, Jarod Sheets; and nieces, Ashley Adler and Lacey Palmer.
Due to Robert’s request, no funeral services will be held. A remembrance stone will be placed next to his father in the Palmer Family Cemetery. His final resting place will be in Anza, CA.
