Richard Lamar Chancey

Richard Lamar Chancey, age 57, departed this life July 31, 2021. He passed peacefully in his sleep. From his childhood he enjoyed singing in church and he was choir director at Daisy Church of God of Prophecy. He wrote many beautiful poems and songs. One of his poems is recorded in the Library of Congress. Everyone enjoyed his singing as it was a blessing to many people. He enjoyed visiting the nursing home and singing for the people there. Along with his son Adam, he enjoyed a tract ministry which he called Compel Ministry.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Richard and Leona Chancey and John Eddie and Hazel Fritts, his mother Mildred Crutchfield and a brother John Chancey.

He is survived by his parents Herbert and Betty Chancey, a brother David Martinez, sisters Missy Cannon and Teresa Guinn, two sons Adam and Elijah Chancey, two daughters Amanda Chancey and Jennifer “Evie” Foster, three grandchildren, four nephews and an aunt, several uncles and many cousins.

Visitation will be August 11, 2021, from 4:00 – 5:00 pm at the Daisy Church of God of Prophecy, 9031 Springfield Road, Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, with a memorial service to follow. Due to the pandemic, the family requests that masks be worn during the visitation.
