Reverend James David Moore

Reverend James David Moore, 70, a lifelong resident of Old Fort, TN transitioned to his Heavenly Home early Tuesday morning, October 11th, 2016. He was born in Cleveland, TN on February 19th, 1946 a son of the late Millard & Jessie Moore. Although David enjoyed coon hunting, cutting timber and was an avid mechanic his passion was sharing the Gospel of his Lord & Savior with other. He was a minister for over forty-eight years. During that time, he served as pastor for twenty-three years at Greasy Creek Baptist Church and seven years as pastor of Little Conasauga Baptist Church of Crandall, GA. David’s greatest desire was taking care of his family and showing God’s love to all he came in contact with.
David leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of fifty-one years Gwendolyn Chastain Moore, one daughter and son-in-law Cindy & Johnny Townsend, one grandson James Townsend and his wife Suzanne, five sisters Dorothy King (Clarence) of Cleveland, TN, Betty Jo McCurry, Linda Branam of Cleveland, TN, Shirlyn Stinnett (A.J.) of Benton, TN and Paulette Casteel of Cleveland, TN , one brother Charles Moore (Sandy), numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Friday, October 14th, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Ball Play Baptist Church located at 1142 Ball Play Road in Old Fort, TN 37362 with the Reverend Matthew Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Conasauga Baptist Church Cemetery with Terry Patterson, James Patterson, Darrell McCurry, Ricky McCurry, Tim Shope and Labron Anderson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include Rob Cash, Gene Godfrey, Nick Hall, Dylan Hall, Tyler McCurry and Jack Arnett.
The family will receive friends at the Ball Play Baptist Church on Thursday evening, October 13th, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and also one-hour prior the 2:00 PM service time on Friday.
