Rev. Lee Denton Wright

Rev. Lee Denton Wright, 82, of Cleveland, TN passed away on January 22, 2023. He was born one of thirteen children on October 22, 1940 to the late James and Drucilla Wright.

Lee was an ordained Bishop with the Church of God, pastoring more than 50 years in Tennessee and North Carolina. During his time in ministry, he sent forth over 42 pastors and their wives into full-time ministry. He was also a gifted artist, who enjoyed painting canvas, signs, cars, and church baptistries.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 61 years, Frankie Ann Wright; children: Rev. Angeleea Varner Shultz (Mark), Rev. Andre L. Wright (Rev. Renae); sister Edna Ellis (Grady); grandchildren: Andrew Wright (Lindsey), Rev. Rachel Barker (Russ), Mitchell Varner, Brittany Grigsby (Josh), Eden Wright. In addition to these, he leaves behind several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, January 24th at Hopewell Church of God. Rev. Rachel Barker, Bishop David Snyder, and Bishop Wayne Dority will be officiating.
