Raymond Paul Barch

November 28, 1938 — February 20, 2019

Raymond Barch died peacefully in Cleveland, Tennessee on February 20, 2019.
Raymond was born November 28, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York.
Raymond’s family moved to a small farm in Perrineville, New Jersey some years later. He and his two siblings loved the great space to play, the fresh produce and the wonder and presence of farm wild animals.
Raymond graduated from Allentown High School in 1957 and later enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was assigned to Germany. Upon his return from the military, he realized his many skills in construction, drafting, surveying, operating big equipment and supervising workers. He worked on the construction of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in New York City.
Raymond lost his first wife, Margaret, in a tragic car crash and was left with his infant daughter Patricia (Patti). When Patti later married and settled in Tennessee, Raymond followed to settle there too.
Raymond later married Yvonne (Bonnie) and had many happy years with Bonnie, making their home in Cleveland. Raymond took pride in growing and canning vegetables from his garden. However, a priority in his life was Jesus, and he deeply engaged in Holy Scripture study with Bible groups and alone.
Raymond had much suffering and tragedy in his life, but he hid them well, trying instead to lift the spirits of others. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Raymond is survived by Patti Hall (his daughter), Charles Hall (Patti’s husband) and Eric and Patrick Hall (their two children), all residing in Florida, his wife Yvonne, his stepchildren Pamela Henry and Craig Yarbrough. In addition, Raymond is survived by Barbara Barc (sister-in-law), Peter Barc (nephew) and family, and Carolyn Barc (niece), all residing in New Jersey.
Raymond is also survived by Lucille Brecht (his only sister) and Julius Brecht (her husband), residing in Alaska, as well as J. Stephen Brecht (their son) residing in Massachusetts and Christopher Brecht (their son), residing in Alaska.
Grandnephews and grandnieces are Katarina, Spencer and Pierson, all residing in New Jersey, and Mitchell residing in Massachusetts.
Preceded in death are Raymond’s parents, Sophie and Walter Barc, and his brother Gerald.
