Obituary
Ray Newman Short Sr. born on July 7, 1934 passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at Parkside Nursing Home at the age of 80, surrounded by family. He was born in South Pittsburg, TN and lived most of his life in Chattanooga, TN, later moving to Rossville, GA. He was a machinist with Sherman and Riley before becoming disabled.
He was preceded in death by parents Lawrence and Kate Short, daughter Rita Short, and son Franky Dye.
Survivors are son, Ray Short Jr. (Kelly), daughter, Millie McElhaney (Terry). Grandchildren, Michael Short (wife Amanda), Amy Dunn (Eddie), Samantha Mansel (Kris), Robin Morgan (Jerry), Tommy, Corey Short, Ray Short III, (James), Step grandchildren, Terry McElhaney Jr. (Christy), David McElhaney (Kristy), 22 great-grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, special friends Sue McElhaney and Bobby Sue Henley.
A memorial service was held at Parkside Nursing Home on Sunday August 10, 2014. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff of Parkside Nursing Home, DCI Dialysis, and Hospice for their loving care and kindness to our father and grandfather.
