Pastor Loren Sigurd Vistaunet

We are very sad to inform you that Pastor Loren Sigurd Vistaunet, 78, born July 11, 1944, in Bellingham, WA, the son of Sigurd Vistaunet and Joan Johnston Vistaunet, died on March 10, 2023. He graduated from Pacific Union College in 1967, earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with honors and a Master of Arts (MA) degree. He majored in German and minored in History. His graduate study in the German language included one year in Darmstadt, Germany at Seminar Marienhohe, and one year at Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. Earning teaching credentials, Loren taught German and English at Forest Lake Academy in Florida for two years.

His lifetime interest in Bible Study led to becoming a Bible Worker in McMinnville, TN. Then in 1972, he answered God’s call to become a pastor in the Bristol/Kingsport district in Tennessee. In 1975 Pastor Vistaunet was introduced to Marlyn Robbins at Georgia-Cumberland Conference where she worked as a receptionist, and later to her three children. They married December 20, 1975, serving together as a pastoral team in six districts (Tennessee and Georgia) until the time of his retirement in 2010.

Besides preaching, Loren has enjoyed reading books from his vast library, giving Bible studies, teaching Revelation Seminars, telling children’s stories, gardening, traveling, stamp collecting, playing the accordion, drawing colorful nature scenes, and watching the game of Jeopardy on TV. As a retiree, Loren and his wife moved to Florida where he worked part-time for several years as a Hospital chaplain at Advent Health in Daytona Beach. In 2020, they moved to Collegedale, TN to be near family.

Pastor Loren is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marlyn Olsen Vistaunet; one son Ernie (Pam) Robbins; two daughters Laura Lane and Tamara Robbins; eight grandchildren Justin Green, Brittany (Travis) Pyke, Joshua (Mercedie) Robbins, Jared (Jessie) Loga, Tanner Lane, Paul Robbins, Genie Robbins, and Liam Robbins; four great-grandchildren Brodie Robbins, Ember Pyke, Jackson Loga, and Waydon Robbins; two brothers John Vistaunet and Steven Vistaunet.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 22, 2023 from 4-5:30 PM at Collegedale Community Church in Collegedale, TN.
