O'Neal Liner

Obituary

ONeal Liner, 83, of Cleveland passed peacefully from his earthly life to his heavenly home early Tuesday morning. He was surrounded by his family, whom he loved beyond measure.

ONeal, known as Neal by family and friends, was born on May 16, 1932, in the Clear Spring community of McMinn County to Milburn and Lena Liner. He was a resident of Cleveland for the past 63 years. He was a member of West Cleveland Baptist Church.

Neal was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and community member. He loved his family and enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren and especially with his great granddaughter, Taylor.

For over four decades, he was the owner of Liners service station, one of the few remaining full-service stations in the area. Neal was always known for his friendly demeanor and generosity.

In addition to his parents, Neal was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel; his sister, Faye Dill; and his brothers, Reed, Gene, and Larry. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Dan Liner, Wanda Burton, and Tisha Liner Hitson (Matt); his brothers, Frank (Shirley) and Bryan (Shirley), and his sisters, Deane Green (John) and Wilma Green (Richard). Neal is also survived by his step-children LeAnn Tate (Shawn) and Kevin (Karen) and Tim (Amy) Davenport. His grandchildren Michael, Madison, Matthew, Jessica, and Justin Davenport and Austin, Ashley, and Avery Tate were his pride and joy. His great granddaughter, Taylor Hitson, especially delighted him during her many sleepovers at Nana and Paps.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Sept. 10 from 4 until 8 p.m. at West Cleveland Baptist Church, 1959 Westland Dr., Cleveland, TN 37311.

A service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life will be held at the church Friday, Sept. 11th, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Herb Conley officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Ralph Chase, John Hagler, Randy Hampton, Frank Jaynes, Phil Newman, and Tony Richmond serving as pallbearers. Neals grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to Amedisys Hospice Care, 7205 Lee Highway, Suite B, Chattanooga, TN 37421 or to West Cleveland Baptist Church.

You are encouraged to share a memory of Neal and/or your personal condolences with his family by visiting his memorial web page and guestbook at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home and the Cody family are honored to assist the Liner family with these arrangements.
