Naomi George Gibson, 88, a resident of Cleveland, TN left her earthly home and joined her beloved Tommy in Heaven on July 20, 2022. She was born on August 4, 1933, a daughter of the late Reverend Charlie George & Nellie Beavers George in Ellijay, GA. Naomi was a devoted woman of God and member of North Cleveland Baptist Church since 1957. She worked for over 25 years at the Cleveland Daily Banner and finished her work career as the secretary of North Cleveland Baptist Church before retiring to take care of her grandchildren. Naomi enjoyed cooking, traveling, and talking with her friends, but above all enjoyed spending time with her family. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Tommy Gibson, one granddaughter Maggie Beth Gibson, one sister May Moore and two brothers Lloyd George and C. M. George.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter Linda Tyler (John), one son Doug Gibson (Punky); grandchildren: Logan Gibson (Jill Davis), Emily Gibson (Steven Lawhorn), Tammy Kaminski (Klay), Chris Tyler (Diane Dunn), and John Tyler Jr. and one sister China Ruth Guy. She also leaves behind many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family and a host of special friends.
The family would like to say a special thank you to special friends Amanda, Angela, Brandy, Candace, Heather, Jenny, Maggie and Reyna. Without the love and support of these and many others Naomi could not have come home.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, July 24, 2022, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the North Cleveland Baptist Church. They will also receive friends on Monday one hour prior to the service on Monday.
A celebration of Naomi’s life will be on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 1:00 PM at the North Cleveland Baptist Church with the Dr. Jay McCluskey officiating. The interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Tommy.
Gary Bottoms, Ian Harper, Daryl Martin, Canyen Norman, Dennie Norman and Tom Reese will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family request the memorial donations be made in Naomi’s memory to either North Cleveland Baptist Church or the Ronald McDonald House foundation.
