Morgan Edward Helms

Morgan Edward Helms, 82, of Cleveland, TN went to his eternal reward on September 20, 2019. He was born to the late Arlie and Alta Helms on April 8, 1937 in Putnam County, TN. He spent the last 50 years living in Cleveland, TN.
He was a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews and a close friend to many. Morgan was affectionaly known as “number one hero” by those that were blessed enough to know him. He gave freely of himself and would give to anyone in need. As an OTR truck driver for most of his life, he traveled all over the country and made many friends along the way. Morgan loved life and enjoyed working outdoors, riding motorcycles, playing poker with his friends and taking care of his beloved four legged pets.
He was preceded in death by his brothers T.J., Carl, Garry, and David; sisters: Jean, Carol, Sandy, and Vickie. He is survived by his brother L.A. Helms and his sister Connie Redmond. He also leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 57 years, Margaret and his children: Michael (Kim), Craig (Rachel), Thomas (Sandra Knight) and Craig Corder (Stacy). He took great pride in his grandchildren: Michaela, Michael, Kristen, Harrison, Danielle, Kaila, and Lani and also in his great grandson Colton.
The family will receive friends on Monday September 23, 2019 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Union McMinn Baptist Church located at 314 County Road 316 Niota, TN 37826. A celebration of life service will follow the visitation at 1:00pm with Rev. Ronnie Pearson and Rev. David Crump officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his memory.
