Michael S. Erwin

Michael S. Erwin, 64, of Decatur, TN, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at his home. He was born in Decatur on August 8, 1956 to the late Jimmy and Georgia “Jo” Jeanette Erwin. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. Michael loved riding the Razor around in the mountains, riding motorcycles, boating, and enjoyed socializing with people at his campground. Michael had a successful law enforcement career for 32 years. He served with the City of Decatur Police Department for 12 years. After that, he served on the Meigs County Sheriff’s Department as Chief Deputy for 20 years.

In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his daughter, Holli Erwin Sneed; his first wife, Betilu Erwin; and his second wife, Debbie Erwin.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife Terri Erwin; four children, Mark Erwin (Lisa), Terry Chandler (Angie), Josh Sneed (Katelynn), and Tina Johnson (Tom); two brothers, Jimmy Erwin (Debbie) and Ed Stout (Carolyn); three sisters, Carolyn Knox (Leon), Virginia Bettis, and Teresa Clayton; as well as 11 grandchildren and several other close family and friends.

The family will hold a private memorial service.
