Michael Duane "Mike" Mcdaniel

Michael “Mike” Duane McDaniel, 73, a resident of Athens, TN passed away on July 11, 2020 at his home. He was born in Chattanooga, TN on February 24, 1947. He is preceded in death by his father, Paul McDaniel, his mother, Virginia Jo Miller, and his sisters, Jane Holder and Patricia Smith.

Family members include his loving wife, Cynthia McDaniel, his daughter, Michele Lang, his stepdaughters, Allison (Jeff) Hogan, Haven (Andrew) Heathershaw and Beth Strickland, 13 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, his sister, Kathy Anderson and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. McDaniel was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a retired industrial mechanic. He was knowledgeable about U.S. History, our military, had an appreciation for firearms, and enjoyed watching old western movies. Mike had a strong love for his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed telling them stories from his youth and always had a funny memory or story to share about everyone in the family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

A private interment is planned in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
