Michael C. "Mike" Pierce

Michael C. Pierce, 85, a lifelong resident of this area passed away on Friday afternoon, November 9, 2018 at Life Care of Cleveland. Mike was born on February 23, 1933 in Calhoun, TN on the Hiwassee River a son of the late Luther and Alice Pierce. He was very proud of his hometown and loved growing up there. Mike was of the Christian faith and a member of First Baptist Church. He worked at Bowater for twenty plus years and then went on later to work and retire from the Bradley County School Maintenance department. Mike was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy after faithfully serving his country during the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by eight siblings Katherine Waldron, Helen Suits, Esther Myers Simmons, Evelyn Wilkinson, Frances Davies, Taylor Pierce, Owen Pierce and Pat Pierce.

Mike leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 64 years Frances Hamilton Pierce, two children Michael Pierce and wife Denise and Teresa Anderson and husband Bill, five grandchildren Ross Anderson, Courtney Anderson Donlon (Brant), Amber Cagle Dye (John), Audra Pierce Benson (Daniel) and Ali Pierce Clark (Arthel), four great grandchildren, two sisters Ruth Johnson of Barberton, OH and JoAnn Pierce of Chattanooga, TN, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening, November 12, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the parlor of Companion Funeral Home’s Cleveland Chapel.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens and will conclude with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the local VFW for the Rebuild Fund Project in Mike’s memory.
