Melvin "Shorty" Vernon Roberts

Melvin “Shorty” Roberts, 92, was a resident of Ooltewah, TN passed away on Monday, March 04, 2019 at his home. He attended and supported Crossroads Baptist Church. He worked at Western Union for twenty-one years and finished out his working career as a contractor/builder
He was preceded in death by his wife Eluria “Lou” Whiddon Roberts of 70 years, one son, Larry Vernon Roberts, parents, Jesse and Elizabeth Davis Roberts, four brothers, Paul, Cotton, JD, and OG Roberts and one sister, Maureen Roberts Murray, and one granddaughter, Lindsey Roberts.
He leaves behind a devoted and loving son, David Wayne Roberts; grandsons, Stephen (Danielle), Ryan (Erin), Brent (Brittany) Roberts; one granddaughter Carie (Tim) Koscielny; five great grandsons and four great granddaughters.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 11-1pm at Crossroads Baptist Church in Ooltewah, TN. The celebration of life service will be held at 1pm following the visitation. Interment will be held at Lakewood Memorial Gardens. Rev. Teresa Norman will be officiating the service.
