Melba Fern Caylor

Melba Fern Caylor, loving wife, Mother & Nana, 87, of Cleveland, TN passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023, in a Cleveland care facility. She was employed by Benton Enterprises as an administrative assistant/bookkeeper for 60 + years. She attended North Cleveland Church of God and was a member of the Unity Sunday School Class. Her greatest joys in life were spending time with her grandchildren, her sisters and brothers, and going to her “Mountain home” in Blue Ridge, GA.

Melba is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Alvin W. “Snow” Caylor, her parents, Rev. EJ and Millie (Odom) Boehmer, siblings, Macon Boehmer, Flavis Boehmer, Grady Boehmer, Hugh Boehmer, Thelma Hall and Montez Ellison.

Those who remain to cherish her memory include her daughter, Janet Waller and husband Benny of Hilton Head, SC, son, Eddie Caylor and wife Laura of Decatur, TN. Five grandchildren: Lieutenant Colonel Shannon Waller, USMC, of Bluffton, SC, Laura Walker and husband Ryan of Munising, MI, Katy Logan and husband Tate of Culver City, CA, Brandon Caylor and wife Heather of Ooltewah, TN and Emily Caylor and fiancé Cooper Melton of Washington, DC.

Three great grandchildren Hayden and Victoria Waller, and Sam Walker. Brother, Eldron Boehmer (Jenny), and sisters Lois Sherlin and Gelene Tribble(Stanley), as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to family, Melba will be sadly missed by many friends in the Cleveland Community.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm in the Dixon Chapel of North Cleveland Church of God, the funeral service will be at 3:00 pm with Pastor Ken Elledge officiating and internment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Brandon Caylor, Cooper Melton, Jared Elledge, Drew Gosset, Tyler Knox and David Tribble serving as pall bearers. Arrangements are being handled by Companion Funeral Home.
