May Ruth Hartman

May Ruth Hartman, 95, of Cleveland, TN passed away on November 13, 2021, just one day before what would have been the 69th wedding anniversary with her husband, Clarence. She was born on May 1, 1926 to the late William Kenneth and Jessie Ruth Stevenson. May Ruth loved flowers and gardening. She was gifted with a “green thumb.” Above all, she loved her family and spending time with them. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Edward Hartman; brother Kenneth Stevenson; grandson Nicholas Phillips; and special friend Roger Bowman.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters: Shanda Norton (Johnny) and Sonia Phillips (Kenneth); grandson Bartlee Norton (Deborah) and three grandchildren: Trace Hedrick, Tripp Norton, and Tenslee Norton.

A celebration of May Ruth’s life will be held at 5:00pm on Thursday November 18th at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home. Her family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 3pm to 5pm. She will be laid to rest with Clarence at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Friday November 19th at 1:00pm.
