Obituary

Master Sgt. James Phillip “Jim” Caylor III, 71, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, TN went to his Heavenly Home on Friday morning, October 3rd, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Jim was born on March 29th, 1943 in Bradley County a son of the late James P. “Buddy” Caylor & Elfreda Brown Caylor . He was retired from the United States Army after faithfully serving his country for twenty two years including the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his severe wounds. Jim later in civilian life worked at Life Care Center of Cleveland serving in different capacities. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Big Springs Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing and loved being a member of the Cleveland Cycle Club. Jim was also a member of the Cleveland Emmaus Community.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by an infant sister Linda Gail Caylor, two brothers David Eugene Caylor and John Franklin Caylor.

Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of fifty three years Sarah Dixon Caylor, two daughters Teresa Jones and husband Randy and Brenda Jenkins and husband P.J., six grandchildren Ryan Murray, Alisha Murray, Chris Appelt(Anastasia), Justin Sikorski(Sheena), Timmy Sikorski and Katelyn Judy, eight great grandchildren, three sisters Donna Sherlin(Wayne), Judy Fields(Lee) and Kitty Love, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

A celebration of his life is planned for Monday, October 6th, 2014 at 7:00 PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW in Cleveland, TN with the Reverend Gary Thacker officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon in the funeral home chapel from 4:00 PM until the 7:00 PM service time.

Interment will be on Tuesday, October 7th, 2014 at 10:30 AM in the Chattanooga National Cemetery and will conclude with full military honors. Serving as pallbearers will be son-in-laws Randy Jones and P.J. Jenkins, grandsons Ryan Murray, Justin & Timmy Sikorski and cousin Raymond “Chip” Caylor. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Tuesday morning at 9:30AM.

The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made in Jim’s memory to the St. Judes Children Research Hospital.
